Ideas and Laziness

Lately i feel like i don't want to do anything. Just wanna relax and enjoy every moment that i have. With 5 assignments waiting to be done, I'm quite sure that i actually was just feeling lazy. To add, ideas also don't come that often now. Haih.~ I'm starting to think that there must be something that change. Well, now i'm in the mood of writing something, lets hope that this post contain something useful for you.

It's 1030pm and i was walking with my friend, Nik. He's a nice man. As we was walking, he started a topic of conversation regarding my course of study. So i told him every moment that i could remember as a Petroleum Geoscience student. Field trip, field work, field camp, lecturers and also the technicians, these things are as close as how you can think of about your best friends. Yes, in our courses, our lecturers aren't just lecturers, they are friends with professional background and knowledge. I'm sure if you ask anyone from our courses, they'll say the same thing. I mean, can you get your lecturer to go picnic, lunch together and also, have him play poker card with you. *yeah that's right, my lecturers can do that*

But as far as how things are good between us, i wanna tell you guys that although you can treat your lecturers as friends, make sure you don't cross the professional boundary between you and them. To put it in a simple way, lecturers can be your friends, but don't forget they are still your lecturers. So whatever you do, please respect them. By respect i mean, not only as a lecturer but as the one who has more knowledge than you do in your academic career. Trust me, you may say that you respect the lecturers but your behavior tells otherwise.

You know, habit is one thing that is hard to change. That is why i chose to understand people by finding their habit and infer their behavior. For example, say you are late to class, for the first offender, i think it's forgiven. But if every time you arrive 10 or 15 minutes after class started, that shows that you do not respect your lecturer, you don't value time, and most importantly, this shows that you are weak in following orders, which is the key to be a great leader. I have tons of example that i can tell you but yeah, if i tell you all things that i know about yourself, you may not want to talk to me again. *yes, my mouth is harsh, and if you can receive my critics, than i salute you for that*

It is hard to change habit, but it is possible. Just make sure you have the right habit for in your career and you will start to love things around you more. I think my laziness has come, so i'm gonna stop here. Hopefully there are things that you can use here for yourself.

Thank you for reading.

Catastrophic Event and Advancement of Society

Hi. (sorry, the post about young generation still in need of ideas)

Recently, most of our sources of information describe about the earthquake that hits Japan together with the tsunami that came afterwards. Everyone seems very surprise about the news. Well, i think if you are a fan of Japanese drama you shouldn't be so surprised as in their drama itself, sometimes they mentioned about earthquakes that occur in Japan. But well, there are a few facts that lots of people didn't know.

#Fact 1

Japan's technology is in advance state where although an 8.5 in Richter scale earthquake hits them most of the buildings are still intact. (Need a few more clarification)

#Fact 2

Japan was located on an area where several continental and oceanic plates meet, that is why they got a lot of hot springs. But still, geologically, it is not a suitable place to live.

#Fact 3

Tsunami did a lot of destruction as compared to the destruction brought by the earthquake.

#Fact 4

Most people are idiot because they believe in whatever they read. I've read a lot of things and yes, there are some misguided information that was intentionally given to us.

Forget about the facts just now. As we can see, Japan is the most advance country in the world. And so it is important, politically, economically and etc for other countries such as USA and Malaysia. But if you look at how Japan is 100 years ago, you will not believe that they can achieve this much of advancement in merely 100 years.

Well, everything started after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Yes, the atomic bombs killed a lot of japanese people. In fact, it also destroyed many structures. But how come Japan can still advance to the top despite of many catastrophic event that led to painful death and destruction?

If you go to google and search about the history of earthquakes that hit Japan, i'm sure you'll find that almost every year, Japan was hit by earthquakes. Some of them may be a minor one. But as i mentioned earlier, the technology was so awesome they did not have any problems with earthquakes until now.

So the hypothesis was, a major catastrophic event can change a country. Now, whether the change is positive or not, that depends on the environment, sociology, people etc in that country.
If we look at Japan, obviously the changes were positive. If you look at Malaysia, i think the changes were neutral. I mean, in Malaysia people don't care. That's why it is neutral. I don't have an example yet of a country where catastrophic event brings negative effect but if for people, i think there are so many.

Anyhow, if we take every catastrophic event and turn it into superpowerful drive to get better, i'm sure we can achieve a lot in life. I'm not saying that we must be hit by tsunami everyday but sometimes, small things can also be our catastrophic event. We just need to find out what it is. Anyway, i do hope people in Japan can recover faster from this event and also hopefully they can achieve a much better environment than they have right now.

I think that is all, thanks for reading.

Nurturing Young Generation

Hi.

Today i'm gonna be a bit patriotic. Enjoy.

Last night i got a phone call. "Kal, jom balik, malam ni jugak." So i was like, ok, no problem. So i pack my things and waited about an hour or so before my friend come picked me up. But then he said, "Kita kena pergi hotel Seri Pacific dulu," the reason being was to fetch my other friends who was staying there for an event with a few "datuk" (datuk here is the title given to someone, usually rich man or someone who contribute something to our country idk). To make long story short, we couldn't go back that night because my friend finished their programme at around 2. So we just sleep instead of driving back to UTP.

Next morning, which is this morning, we drove back to UTP at around 10. But a phone call came in and my friends excluding me need to go to a hotel in Ipoh to finish their other programme. And i was like, damn, i need to go back to UTP you idiot! Yes, a bit frustrated but it's not entirely their fault, it was my fault too because i want to go back early and have to follow them. So i followed them to their programme and there i met with this one guy, i think he's a bit special because he does not talk much about nonsense stuff. Pretty much i'm sure you know which nonsense stuff i'm talking about.

At first, i was hesitate to join into this man conversation with my friend, who had had meeting with dato' earlier. But after i chimed in, i thought, hey this guy is quite good. He's like eddy
(my friend's name) when he's not talking nonsense stuff. Pretty much what we talked about was the programme that eddy was organizing, how he and his organization try to nurture young generation especially malays. He has organized lot of events, mostly related to leadership skills and business-minded thinking. I've joined one of his event and yes, it is good, in a way.

Back to the man i met earlier, he said he loved to organize event, firstly because it helps him to interact with young generation and second, as a teacher (he is a lecturer but i think the word lecturer does not gives the soft aura as the word teacher does), he hopes that by organizing an event or participate in a programme can somehow increase your value as leader. Well, you have to have a good people skills if you want to interact with people. And he sees these skills can be learn and develop if you are trying to develop it by joining event. Then we went off to talk about how chinese organization helps their people, like giving 30% of their income to chinese NGO and ask them to use it on chinese people. I mean, why can't malays do that?

The question is simple yet the answer isn't. It goes back far beyond the current generation that make the nurturing in malays quite impossible. I guess you all know the answer, yes, it is jealousy and the can't-stand-if-someone-is-better-or-richer-than-they-are-so-they'll-do-anything-to-make-them-suffer-and-fail problems. I'm not saying that all malays are like that but if this culture and environment can't be change, i believe it is only the matter of time before we, malays are wipe out in our own country. I get all this from a talk that i had with a man i met only a few hours earlier. So the question now is, how can i help or we help in developing young generation?

I'll discuss this in my next post.

p/s: if somehow i forgot about this please tell me. yeah, my mind kind of working on thousands of projects right now, so sometimes i may lost track about what i'm doing. XD

thanks for reading this post.

Friends. A Memory to Remember

I thought i tell you how bored i am by posting a lyric entitled "Secret" by one republic. Trust me, it is a good song. For those who said it wasn't, well, you aren't like me. I don't have that many friends to talk things to, so i think writing something for some strangers to read is far better than having a useless conversation. Well, enjoy your moment cause after this its gonna get boring.

FIRST STORY

Just now i got a visit from a friend. My coursemate actually. He's not the kind of guy i used to talk things to, but somehow when he came over, we just talk about things which i usually can't tell unless you are my close friend. We talked about our coursemates, our lifestyle, friends, gossips here and there and some other things. I really love it when i have someone to hear my story and share opinions about my story rather than just hear it without any feedback.

Few years back, i got a couple of friends that can give me a stimulating conversation. But one day, they just disappeared. Although their YM status is available, i got nothing back after i buzz or say hi to them. So i decided maybe they got other priorities but i think a few sentences telling "i'm busy" is not so much to ask, right? But never mind. Time marches on, things change and we are not the same as who we are when we were 10 or 15. And after having this short conversation, these memories came back to me and it was like bombarding every inch of my brain with old speculations and useless information. I hate this. Well, i hope that after i wake up tomorrow, all this things will be gone. Hopefully.

SECOND STORY

Yesterday was the birth date of my childhood friend, some from my high school and also my chemistry teacher. I wanted to post to their facebook wall "Happy Birthday" but i think if they aren't the type who open their facebook every 10 minutes, why bother having facebook at all? But suddenly, my recent news showed something that make me smile, even right now, i still smiling over the fact in my recent news. Obviously, its all about the girl.

She was tagged in an appreciation picture by her mother, in which makes me feels like i wanna browse the album even more. So i look at it and there she is, smiling, without any clue that shows she was not happy at the moment the picture was taken. I smiled too, when i look at that picture. For whatever reason she has while smiling, all i need to know is that she's happy. That's all that matters. And i do hope that she's going to smile even more and hopefully make this world a better place.

p/s: To someone who might understand what i said here, please don't do anything stupid.
